INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON APPLIED GEOINFORMATICS 2024 STARTED TODAY

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to invite you to the 4th International Symposium on Applied Geoinformatics (ISAG2024), which will take place at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Wroclaw, Poland, on May 9 - 10, 2024.  ISAG2024 is jointly organized by the Department of Geomatics Engineering, Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, Türkiye, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Wroclaw, Poland and Technical University of Crete, Chania, Crete, Greece.

The AI and AI-based-geospatial information management paradigm is changing rapidly due to technological advancements in data acquisition, processing and sharing. The state-of-the-art techniques need to be investigated to cope with the increasing demand for highly accurate, reliable information acquisition from multi-sensors such as satellite imageries, unmanned vehicles, cameras and IoT sensors, which can be applied to counter various challenges such as global warming, climate change, environmental monitoring, biodiversity, smart cities, urbanization, effective use of natural resources. Furthermore, information representing the built and human environment greatly benefits from new technologies and innovative approaches. Therefore, ISAG2024 aims to provide good opportunities for innovative knowledge exchange among researchers worldwide to share knowledge and their expertise to discuss the latest developments, opportunities and challenges that can help them solve many real-world challenges.

The aim and feature of the 4th ISAG is to bring scientists, engineers and industry researchers together to exchange and share their experiences and research results and discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in Geoinformatics. The topics covered in this symposium include recent advances in AI, satellite imagery, advanced remote sensing, photogrammetry, image processing, global navigation satellite systems, height systems, terrestrial laser scanning, GIS/smart cities and land management. The symposium is organised to promote the advancements in the field of Geoinformatics to explore the latest scientific & technological developments and opportunities to help the Geoinformatics community solve many real-world/actual/real-life challenges of today.

ISAG2019 (www.isag-2019.yildiz.edu.tr) was organized in Istanbul, Turkey, on 7-9 November 2019. 290 participants and scientists from 27 countries attended the symposium. ISAG2021 (https://www.isagsymposium.org/isag2021) was a virtual symposium hosted by the University of Latvia. 231 participants and scientists from 24 countries attended the symposium. ISAG2022 (https://www.isagsymposium.org/isag2022) was organized in Chania, Crete, Greece on 12-14 October 2022 at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania (CIHEAM MAICh), Chania, Crete, 50 participants and scientists from 10 countries attended the symposium.

ISAG2024 will occur at the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland, on 9-10 May 2024. We encourage you to participate in this ISAG2024 and look forward to welcoming you to Wroclaw.

I believe ISAG2024 will establish a strong scientific and cultural bridge between the countries, which I am sure will continue for many years.

We want to encourage you to participate in the ISAG2024!
Yours sincerely,

Prof. Dr. Bulent Bayram
